01 PROFILE

KLEINSTEIN CO., LTD. is a Tokyo-based design consulting and production studio specializing in the field of fashion. Since its establishment in 2014 by Yusuke Koishi and Miki Koishi, the studio has worked on a wide range of projects including planning, product development, editorial work, art direction, management of collaboration projects, brand strategy, creative direction, new-business concept development, and support for foreign brands entering Japan.

At the root of KLEINSTEIN's practice is a strong interest in creating something non-trivial. The studio approaches fashion in its original and broader sense as Yosou, written in Japanese as “様装”: the changing modes of human appearance, dress, behavior, and social form. It sees fashion as a rare social phenomenon in which religious, artistic, and commercial dimensions form a trinity.

Through this concept, KLEINSTEIN considers how fashion can actively engage with the dynamics of human society and with forces that may change the modalities of our lives.
